Youth Learning Institute

North Sound ACH is proud to announce the launch of the Youth Learning Institute, a groundbreaking opportunity for young leaders (ages 16-24) across the North Sound Region!

In Fall of 2024, participants will engage in hands-on learning in areas such as the arts, music, sports, and local governance, preparing them to be the changemakers our communities need.

Through six engaging, creative sessions, participants will explore leadership in ways that resonate with their passions – engaging with others from diverse backgrounds, enhancing your ability to connect with others and understand different perspectives, which are key to effective leadership.

Youth from all backgrounds and regions, including our eight Tribal Nations, are encouraged to apply!

Submit your application by September 25. Sessions will start in October and they will be a mix of in-person and virtual meet-ups. Click on the image to the right to download the flyer and share on social media and in your community! (Tag us! @northsoundach on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn)

North Sound ACH recognizes that leadership development for young people is essential to our community’s well-being. The objectives of the North Sound Youth Learning Institute focus on fostering creativity, innovation, collaboration, teamwork, resilience, perseverance, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.

At the end of the program, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the role of sports in public discourse around power and privilege.
  • Apply learnings from music and leadership to express their narrative through music.
  • Design and create a mural that incorporates social critique and community-driven solutions.
  • Critically analyze different levels of governance and identify how to increase participation locally.
  • Construct a vision for the future they want to create through leadership.
  • Reflect on lessons learned and outline actionable steps to apply their knowledge within their community.
