Dr. Shawn Morris serves as Public Health Director for Island County. His background spans the fields of community health, primary care, natural resources, and organizational management. Dr. Morris has over 5 years of leadership experience, with specific interest and experience in advancing organizational systems to address community-level health and well-being. As Public Health Director, Dr. Morris is focused on creating and sustaining community partnerships that address social drivers of health and advance health equity. He is committed to implementing a data-informed and community-driven approach to program and policy development through meaningful inclusion and engagement. Dr. Morris earned a Bachelor of Arts in Geography from the University of Washington in 2008 and a doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine at Bastyr University in 2017. He is currently starting a Master’s in Public Health at the University of Michigan, focusing on epidemiology and population health.
