Zeenia Junkeer, N.D.

Population Health Director (She/Her)

Zeenia joined North Sound ACH in February 2022 as our Population Health Director. As a public health professional with a doctorate in naturopathic medicine, she is aware that our public health systems were not created with practices that center community members, their expertise, and solutions grounded in indigenous and ancestral wisdom. She believes her job is an extension of her own liberation work, and with the belief that there are other ways to create systems with and for people most impacted by health inequities.

“We are not marginalized people, we are people who have been oppressed by systems that have favored dominant, colonial, racist, xenophobic, fatphobic, transphobic, ableist, classist systems, and we have tools to dismantle those systems, and most importantly, build our own new systems that support everyone in our communities. We can do better and we have to do better.”

“I feel so humbled and honored to be able to work at North Sound ACH, to build stronger communities in the North Sound region. It’s rare in my experience to be able to work in health systems transformation with leadership that is really willing to put in the hard work of doing meaningful justice work. I feel excited to be part of a team that I believe is also committed to this lifelong journey of creating systems, structures, policies, and practices that center communities and individuals most impacted by injustices.”
